A-Major is an advocacy organization that operates out of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. We are dedicated to bringing awareness to common but often misunderstood mental health issues such as depression and anxiety disorders. We also aim to eliminate social stigma around matters concerning suicide.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death in Canada, and first among university students. According to the World Health Organization, major depression will soon become the leading cause of disability in the world. Most of these victims suffer in silence due to the embarrassing stigma that society places on mental illness. The goal of A-Major is to eliminate this stigma which will in turn facilitate treatment.

We feel that the Arts play an integral role in the development and expression of emotions and therefore that is our method of approach. Hence the musical connotation of our name. The majority of our campaigns are musical or otherwise artistically related in nature.

Canada has the third highest rate of teen suicides among all industrialized nations. Our goal is to ensure that all people, but especially young people, have proper access to mental health services.

Please browse our website and learn more about who we are and what we would like to do. Together we can break the silence that is mental illness.
